This is Me:
Mum. Photographer.
Crafter. Optimist.

Oh Hello!

I’m Maria, originally from Austria (yes, like from the sound of music). I’m often mistaken to be Irish, given my married name and the accent I have taken on from my husband. I’m an incredibly family orientated person and having my own children has just fostered this even more.

Photography has always meant a lot to me. Sadly, my mum passed at a young age and still to this date almost 20 years later I sometimes get the desire to take out my childhood photo album and just be able to look at her and all of us together. These memories mean the world to me.

Christmas with my mum and siblings

As I became a mum myself, one thing I wanted to make sure of, is that my boys have lots of photos and memories to look back on. I certainly can’t wait to to sit down with them in years to come and look at pictures from now. (Well actually I can wait, I do want them to stay little for longer!)

My previous career was in marketing, and while I enjoyed parts of it I just didn’t find it fulfilling. I really wanted to go out meet and connect with people. I wanted to create something meaningful for families, something I know will be valuable for them not just now but forever. Hence, I decided after having my second son to leave my corporate career behind and and give this my all. And there’s not a single day where I look back. I truly love what I do and hope it transpires in my work.

In-Home or Outdoor

I like to photograph in peoples homes. It’s a place you and your kids feel comfortable in. I also think it’s nice to capture your family home in my photos. Something to look back on in future and see how things have changed, what you loved etc. Especially in London, where a lot of people will not be in their forever home at the time of their photoshoot, it’s just lovely to have this captured.

Equally, if being outdoor is your happy place, I’d love to capture this for you. Let’s go for a walk, your favourite park and capture your family life.

Organic.

I won’t bring a ton of equipment with me. It’s just me and my camera. We will be using natural light and while I will ask you to get into certain positions or direct a little in terms of location due to light, I won’t ask you to sit still to get a studio portrait. I want you to chat to each other, have fun, play… just be yourselves and pretend I’m not there.

Connection is Everything.

For me it’s all about capturing your bond. The way your little one looks at you. How your hand naturally just holds their little toes. A conversation between parents. A mischievous look between siblings. I love to get you all really close during our session, this can be created by simple prompts that won’t make it awkward, i.e. can you whisper a secret into your mummy’s ear?
